Jaw-dropping renovation transforms rundown Rosewater villa into modern character home

Bright purple walls, patchwork flooring and a bottle green exterior characterised this Rosewater house just two years ago – it’s hard to believe looking at it now.

An extensive renovation has completely transformed the rundown villa at 828 Torrens Road into a contemporary five-bedroom character home.

While its old-world charm has been retained, modern design trends have breathed new life into the 1910-built villa.

Ray White Port Adelaide principal Nick Psarros, who is marketing the property with Nathaniel Kennerdale, sold it to the current owners in February 2019 and was shocked at how much it had changed since then.

“I walked in there and I couldn’t recognise it,” he said.

“It was absolutely putrid when I walked in the first time, it had been let go.”

He said it was tired and dilapidated inside while the backyard was full of rubbish, but that didn’t deter the buyers.

But rather than shell out on new units, Dearbhaile spent hours coating the dated pine doors a chic shade of black using Frenchic paint.

Renovation transforms Somerton Park apartment into modern marvel

But if they knew what was inside one of its residences they might change their mind about taking a moment to soak it all in.

A jaw-dropping renovation has transformed the one-bedroom apartment at 5/20 Phillipps Street, which is on the market with a $490,000 to $540,000 price guide.

Tired and dated just months ago, the residence is now more modern, light and open.

Owner Matt Causer, who revitalised the apartment through his business Eco Constructions, said he had a plan from the moment he saw it.

“As soon as I walked in the door I knew what I was going to do,” he said.

“I’m thrilled with the outcome, it’s amazing, I really love it.”

Mr Causer said the renovation, which included knocking out and moving walls, took about four months of intense work to complete.
