An EF-3 Tornado Destroyed It In 2019, Today A Dallas Home Depot Store Reopens

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Home Depot store on Forest Lane in Dallas will reopen October 8, nearly a year after being ripped apart by a powerful tornado.

It was on October 20, 2019 when an EF-3 tornado swept through North Dallas, causing part of the store to collapse. On that one day there were 10 tornadoes — in Dallas, Garland and Richardson — that caused some $2 billion in damage to homes and businesses.

Today customers at the North Dallas location were happy to have their neighborhood home improvement store back open for business.

Customer Frank Jeffreys said, “It’s good to see them back smiling again, because it was such a hard time for them. I know it was, because it was pretty devastating when it [tornado] came through.”

PALM BEACH GARDENS — COVID-conscious and color-coordinated, the McDonald’s restaurant on Alternate A1A in the Promenade Shopping Plaza welcomed back customers to its newly renovated dining room last month.

Owner Ricky Wade, who operates 30 McDonald’s restaurants in Palm Beach and Martin counties, including a second Palm Beach Gardens location at 3805 Northlake Blvd., transformed the eatery at 9880 Alternate A1A from a traditional look into a contemporary one.

The $450,000 renovation includes a modernized dining room with locally inspired decor, remodeled counters, digital menu boards, new furniture, privacy seating, curbside and in-store pickup through mobile order and pay, and remodeled bathrooms.

What Moon Dog World will look like once it reopens

Moon Dog World celebrates its first birthday on October 4 in lockdown, but the team at Moon Dog have used their creativity to bring the playful pub experience to us at home.

While we can’t laze by the bright blue lagoon with an ice-cold pot of Lagoona Matata Sour Ale in hand, we can instead opt to enjoy a series of their beers at home. Play bartender with your housemate, pop one of Moon Dog’s bar mats onto your dining table and crack open a variety of their tinnies which come in the Pub in a Box.

Complete the experience with some of Moon Dog’s “drinking food” and order pork or tofu bao, buttermilk fried chicken ribs, buffalo cauliflower, a chicken or eggplant parma and crinkle-cut chips via Mr Yum.

“One of the biggest things that our team came up with was the Spring Box, and that comes with some

London’s most magical and eccentric house reopens to the public this week

In the basement kitchen of Sir John Soane’s Museum in Lincoln’s Inn Fields – which reopens this week – there’s a mummified whippet half stuck into a bread roll. It’s not an insight into the domestic catering arrangements of one of England’s greatest architects. It’s part of a show called ‘Degrees of Truth’ by artist duo Langlands & Bell. Their works are scattered throughout the house, which now has a one-way system in place. The exhibition closed along with the museum back in March. Langlands & Bell found the grisly dried-out pooch on a stall in Brick Lane market and incorporated it into their work. You sort of picture the dog alive and in the house, snoozing in front of the range. Then you realise that this connection is momentary – the dog and the house have interacted for the first and only time in their respective histories.

COVID-19 business effect: Solstice closes, Mr Friendly’s reopens

Owner Ricky Mollohan’s posts announce closing of popular northeast Columbia restaurant, reopening of Five Points mainstay

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The announcement hit social media around 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 — Ricky Mollohan has closed Solstice Kitchen in northeast Columbia.

Mollohan, who can be outspoken on social media, said in the Solstice Facebook post that money became the main issue. He had closed both Solstice and Mr Friendly’s restaurants in mid-March, as per Gov. Henry McMaster’s orders in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

WLTX’s Whitney Sullivan and I had interviewed Mollohan on March 17 at Mr. Friendly’s in Five Points. It was supposed to be the restaurant’s 25th anniversary but instead marked the last week of operation — until today. More on that in a minute.

The decision to shutter Solstice was not an easy one. Mollohan had applied for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) funding from the
