KNOXVILLE, Tennessee — Knoxville-based Pilot Company and members of the Haslam family are donating $5 million to renovate the Emergency Department at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Fort Sanders.
Department improvements will include dedicated trauma rooms and an expanded lobby. Also, there’ll be a behavioral health care section, “providing safe spaces for patients receiving treatment or awaiting inpatient placement. Sensory-sensitive rooms also will be available.”
It’ll be called the Pilot Emergency Care Center, recognizing those who have worked and will work as Pilot Company team members and their families.
Children’s Hospital President and CEO Matt Schaefer in a news release thanked the Haslam family for the gift.
