iPhone 12 to Have Major Performance Improvements

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 12 lineup is likely to see major performance and efficiency improvements thanks to the A14 Bionic Processor.

Our first glimpse at the A14 comes from the just announced iPad Air 4, which is the first device to sport the next-generation Apple-designed processor. The 64-bit desktop-class A14 Bionic chip sees a considerable leap in performance and efficiency, according to Apple.

Early benchmarks suggest that the A14 is a 6-core chip with a base frequency of 2.99GHz and 3.66GB of memory, achieving a score of 1,583 in single-core and 4,198 for multi-core.

This is markedly higher than the 1,336 in single-core and 3,569 in multi-core for the A13 Bionic from 2019’s iPhone 11 lineup. Roughly compared, that means the iPhone 12 will be 18.4% faster in single-core performance and 17.6% faster than the current top-of-the-line iPhone. Here are speed comparisons of the upcoming iPhone 12 processor with other recent

Android 11 TV released, along with privacy, performance improvements and new features

Android 11 TV released

Android 11 TV is arriving on the Android TV platform, enabling many features showcased during Google’s #11weeksofsummer virtual event.

The update to Android TV closely follows the release of Android 11 for phones and tablets. It includes the same core enhancements to performance and privacy, such as how the platform now supports allowing application permissions just once. Android’s developers are also introducing a new, more efficient way to manage device memory with the algorithm based on memory pressure, which should speed up many devices. There’s support for Auto Low Latency Mode, a feature included in display panels using HDMI 2.1 that can improve performance by preventing post-processing features – a handy option for games or video conferencing applications, where performance is more important than visual quality.

Writing of games, there are improvements to the controller or gamepad support, which should be good news. There’s a new TV tuner framework with

Microsoft Flight Simulator Patch 1.8.3.0 released, brings CPU and GPU performance improvements

Microsoft-Flight-Simulator-brand-new-1

Microsoft and Asobo have released a new performance patch for Microsoft Flight Simulator. According to the teams, patch 1.8.3.0 brings a number of CPU and GPU performance improvements.

Going into more details, this latest update tweaks CPU thread priorities to reduce interruption of frame critical threads. Furthermore, it optimizes loading system to reduce overall loading times, as well as heavy airport scenes impact on CPU. In addition, it reduces the amount of GPU overdraw to improve GPU performance.

What this basically means is that the game will be less taxing on most PC configurations. So yeah, while these CPU improvements are not up to what we expect to see when Asobo adds support for DX12, they are definitely welcome.

As always, Steam and Microsoft Store will download this update the next time you launch their clients. Below you can also find its performance improvements (you can find the complete changelog

Horizon Zero Dawn’s latest PC update offers even more improvements to gameplay and performance

It’s only been just over a week since Guerrilla Games’ previous update to Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, but those plucky Dutch go-getters are right back at it again with yet another magic bag of tweaks, fixes, and updates. Announced earlier today in a Reddit post, the update – which is available right now – aims to address ‘additional crashes’, add controller rumble toggle, and offer the option to display black side bars in cinematics when playing in ultrawide.

The previous patch targeted some significant crash issues, like the game occasionally crashing when players tried to create a new save when their save slots were full up. This latest patch seems to focus on other specific but notably common issues, such as Aloy’s hair not displaying correctly with the game running above 30fps.

Other notable fixes include fixes to flickering textures in snowy environments, resolution fixes when changing from windowed
