Pizza Bar restaurant opens new location in Miami Beach FL

Pizza Bar & Lalani Productions

Guess who’s coming to West Avenue?

Pizza Bar, which opened its first location next to the Loews Miami Beach and Ritz Carlton South Beach in 2009, has opened a new location, right next to Bodega Taqueria y Tequila.

The menu at the new spot, which boasts a rustic but modern vibe, isn’t exactly the same as the menu at the Collins Avenue restaurant, which says it sells the biggest slice on South Beach.

At the new restaurant, it’s not so much about the slices. You can order the 30-inch pizzas with your favorite toppings or try a special pizza like the Proscuitto, with garlic sauce, mozzarella, truffle oil, Proscuitto, arugula, grated Parmesan and basil.

Amid heartache of defeat, Butler grateful for Miami home

After a sometimes rocky path through the NBA, Jimmy Butler found a home in Miami, and the Heat’s loss to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals doesn’t change that.

“Just the bond that this group built,” Butler said of what he’ll treasure from the season with the Heat — including some three months in the NBA’s quarantine bubble in Orlando, Florida.

“I wouldn’t give that back for the world. We really, really, really love being around one another and competing with one another. I wouldn’t trade that for the world.”

Butler arrived in Miami after stints in Chicago, Minnesota and Philadelphia ended on sour notes.

With the Heat, the undeniably talented All-Star appears to have found the perfect landing spot, his grit helping propel the Eastern Conference fifth seeds to an unlikely shot at the Western Conference champion Lakers in the NBA Finals.

It was Butler’s determined triple-double

NBA Finals: Jimmy Butler, Miami Heat not ready to go home just yet

As much as he might want to go home after more than 90 days in the NBA “bubble” at Disney World in Orlando, Jimmy Butler insisted he and his Heat teammates plan on staying until Oct. 13. That would be the day of a potential Game 7 of the NBA Finals, which means the Heat would have to win Game 5 Friday night and a potential Game 6 on Sunday in order to come back from their current 3-1 deficit.

“I like where we’re at, man,” Butler said on a video conference call on Thursday. “I smile because it’s true. I like where we’re at…Everybody is ready to compete, ready to get one.

“This is the job — to go out there and try to win a championship no matter where it’s at, here in a bubble in Orlando. We’re all here mentally, physically. We’re all wanting to get this

Ahead of the U.S. election, Miami Nicaraguans vote with their old home in mind

Porfirio Mercado, a Hialeah resident, left Nicaragua in 1983 to escape the socialist government of Daniel Ortega and the Sandinista National Liberation Front. The 53-year-old has lived in Florida ever since. In November, he plans to cast a vote for former Vice President Joe Biden.

“Trump brings back a lot of memories,” said Mercado, whose father was a political prisoner for 10 years. “I know he [Trump] says it as if he is joking, but he would like to stay in power forever. That reminds me of the dictators we had in Nicaragua, from [Anastasio] Somoza to Daniel Ortega.”

Dina Díaz, 44, left Nicaragua in 2007 after Ortega came back to power. She did not want her children to live through the “terrible” she experienced in the 1980s. But, unlike Mercado, she plans to vote for President Donald Trump. Díaz says she believes that he is effective against regimes

Gonzalo Higuain had an eventful home debut for Inter Miami against New York City FC on Saturday night, but Miami lost 3-2 and the $7 million Argentine forward remains goalless and winless in two games with his new team.

The skies unloaded a driving rainstorm onto the Fort Lauderdale stadium late in the game, leaving the Inter Miami players drenched and demoralized as they left the field.

To make matters worse, coach Diego Alonso confirmed after the game that they will lose midfielder Rodolfo Pizarro for the next “four or five games” as he travels to Netherlands to play two friendlies with
