Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and Indigenous Peoples Day are Monday, Oct. 12, and retailers once again see this long holiday weekend as a time for sales.

Online home retailer Wayfair is slashing up to 70% off on select items during a clearance event. Bedroom furniture starts at $99, bedding sets at $39.99 and storage solutions at $19.99.

Kitchen and dining furniture and ceiling and wall lights are up to 50% off, living room seating and wall art are up to 60% off and area rugs are up to 70% off.

Save up to 50% on outdoor furniture and up to 55% on TV stands, living room tables and bathroom upgrades.

See more sales on kids furniture, entryway furniture, table and floor lamps, kitchen essentials as well as small electronics and appliances.

Amazon Prime Day 2020: Best deals to watch in home, beauty, fashion, tech and more

Amazon Prime Day is right around the corner, and it’s one of the best reasons to stock up on needs and wants and even get a head start on holiday shopping.

This is one of the company’s biggest shopping events of the year, and it’s running on Oct. 13 and 14. While this year’s annual sale is later than unusual, it’s ahead of the busy holiday season.

Lowe’s Is Bringing New York Fashion Week From Runways to Homes

With large swaths of the U.S. still hunkered down at home, Lowe’s is teaming with leading fashion designers Jason Wu, Christian Siriano and Rebecca Minkoff to bring New York Fashion Week from the catwalks into the home.

The collaboration is among chief brand and marketing officer Marisa Thalberg’s efforts to reimagine the home improvement retailer since joining in February.

“One of things I love about being at a brand of this scale is it allows you to do things in a different way,” she told Adweek.

The decision to launch the admittedly unexpected partnership—pairing a home improvement store with clothing, rather than interior, designers—was born out of the insight that the connection between style and home has never been stronger, Thalberg said.

Lowe’s Builds New Image At Fashion Week

There’s a lot that’s new and digital about New York Fashion Week. In fact everything is new from the virtual runways to the individual shows getting precedence over the more general events. Even the sponsorships are new, including home improvement retailer Lowe’s.

It might seem to be an unnatural pairing. But Lowe’s is trying to upgrade its image as a home décor brand, and it is using this year’s event to tie in with top tier designers. NYFW kicked off Friday, Sept. 11.

It will participate visually as a backdrop. As designers put their virtual shows together, they will pick shoppable goods from Lowe’s as “edits” within the virtual screen. The first group of designers will be Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff and Christian Siriano.
