The man accused of breaking into Eminem’s home faces new charges of assaulting a Macomb County Jail employee.
Matthew David Hughes, 27, punched a corrections deputy in the face Sept. 11, the Macomb County Sheriff’s office said. The officer, who was retrieving a food tray from Hughes’ cell, did not need medical attention.
The alleged incident came two days after Hughes was bound over for trial in the Eminem case.

Hughes has been charged with assault of a prison employee. On Wednesday, he waived his right to a preliminary examination and will be arraigned Oct. 21 in Macomb County District Court. He will also be arraigned then on the home
