East Dallas is a ‘hot’ home market, firm says

It is not surprising that East Dallas has become one of Dallas’ hottest markets, according to Allie Beth Allman and Associates, with residents of all ages attracted to its green spaces, active lifestyle and location close to downtown and White Rock Lake.

Here are two East Dallas homes on the market.

The renovated three-bedroom Austin stone design at 5923 Winton St. is close to Mockingbird Elementary School. Offered by Nancy Lukken, this residence features a double-car rear-entry garage and an extra parking spot. The interior provides $40,000 in updates and air conditioning that was installed in 2016. Two bathrooms were remodeled with period tile and Kohler fixtures. The kitchen has stainless-steel appliances, double ovens, a custom-built pantry and pull-out storage. Relax on the patio or front porch and let the sprinkler system maintain the landscaped yard.

The State’s Largest Historic Renovation in Downtown Dallas Lights Up

Ten years ago, the vertical white lights on the former First National Bank tower were turned off after the building closed. Now the 55-year-old Elm Street landmark is being transformed as part of a $450 million redevelopment project. Award-winning real estate firm Todd Interests is developing office spaces for tenants like Downtown Dallas Inc., as well as luxury apartments, restaurants, retail, and a 219-room Thompson Hotel. Renamed The National, the 52-story high-rise is scheduled to open by the end of this year. The lights have already been turned back on.

This is one of the state’s largest adaptive reuse projects, and DDI will stake its claim on a bottom floor space that will be visible from the street. This has for years been downtown’s largest vacant block, a monstrous building covered in fencing whose developers just couldn’t get the financing to make what they called the Drever a reality. But

An EF-3 Tornado Destroyed It In 2019, Today A Dallas Home Depot Store Reopens

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Home Depot store on Forest Lane in Dallas will reopen October 8, nearly a year after being ripped apart by a powerful tornado.

It was on October 20, 2019 when an EF-3 tornado swept through North Dallas, causing part of the store to collapse. On that one day there were 10 tornadoes — in Dallas, Garland and Richardson — that caused some $2 billion in damage to homes and businesses.

Today customers at the North Dallas location were happy to have their neighborhood home improvement store back open for business.

Customer Frank Jeffreys said, “It’s good to see them back smiling again, because it was such a hard time for them. I know it was, because it was pretty devastating when it [tornado] came through.”

Members of a Dallas EMS crew were sent home this week after treating a COVID-19 positive patient while not wearing masks.

The incident, which was first reported by KDFW-TV (Channel 4), occurred Sunday at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite.

The department did not say whether anyone sent home had since tested positive for the virus.

It is unclear how many members of the crew were sent home, whether they are quarantined or if they have worked since Sunday. Spokesman Jason Evans said the matter is under investigation, and that appropriate disciplinary actions would be determined.

“Due to HIPAA restrictions, we are unable to confirm or discuss specifics when

Seattle Seahawks moderate home faves vs. Dallas Cowboys in Week 3

Joe Williams, Sportsbook Wire
Published 6:39 p.m. MT Sept. 21, 2020

The Seattle Seahawks (2-0) will play host to the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) at CenturyLink Field, Sunday, at 4:25 p.m. ET. The Seahawks are yet to taste defeat this season, while the Cowboys are coming off an improbable win last week to square their record. Below, we take a look at the early Week 3 betting odds and lines at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Seahawks held off the New England Patriots in Week 2, winning 30-25 on Sunday Night Football in an oddly quiet CenturyLink Field. Normally, Seattle is known as one of the loudest venues, but of course, due to COVID, fans are not allowed to attend. The Seahawks didn’t need “The 12,” as they bowed their backs on defense for a last-second goal-line stand to hang on for the win and cover.

The Cowboys faced a 15-point deficit before

Take a look at a contemporary seven-bedroom Dallas home with a unique curved design

This 14,795-square-foot contemporary home was custom built for owners Darren and Amy Kozelsky. Darren’s name might resonate with country music fans. The home was designed by architect Lionel Morrison.

The home, built in 2007 on nearly two acres in the Hillcrest Estates neighborhood, has seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms and four half-bathrooms. The home was updated recently, including adjustments to the kitchen and living room to create an open floor plan and a fireplace was added.

The unique, curved design of the home envelopes an infinity pool that sits off of a wrap-around back patio. The pool is visible from multiple points in the home, through the large floor-to-ceiling windows on the first and second floors.

Listing agent Amy Detwiler said that, during initial planning meetings with the architect, the owners chose this curved layout over another option because they liked how it worked with the corner lot.

“It’s modern, and
