The Latest on Week 5 in the NFL (all times EDT):

4:55 p.m.

The New York Giants have ended a two-game stretch without a touchdown in the first series for offensive coordinator Jason Garrett at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, where he was head coach for nearly 10 years.

Evan Engram scored on a 3-yard run on a reverse to cap a seven-play, 75-yard drive for a 7-3 lead over the Cowboys. A week after giving up a franchise-record 307 yards rushing, the Cowboys allowed Devonta Freeman 20 yards on three carries. Freeman also had an 18-yard catch when he was left wide open coming out of the backfield.

The Giants extended the lead to 14-3 when Kyler Fackrell returned an interception by Dak Prescott 46 yards for a touchdown. The Cowboys entered the game tied for the NFL lead with nine turnovers.

Cowboys Open Home Portion of 2020-21 MW Basketball Schedule Hosting Colorado State

The University of Wyoming men’s basketball team will open the home portion of its Mountain West schedule hosting Colorado State in the Border War on January 5.

The conference portion of the Cowboys schedule was released on Friday in connection with the Mountain West Conference.

The schedule is subject to approval from state, county and local officials. The conference slate features 18 games — nine at home and nine on the road, including Saturday home contests under first-year head coach Jeff Linder.

The Cowboys return four players from last season, all from the Front Range — leading scorer Hunter Maldonado (16.4 points per game), Hunter Thompson, Kwane Marble II and Kenny Foster. A fifth Front Range athlete, Austin Mueller, who would have been a redshirt senior after two injury plagued seasons, will graduate in December, and will not return.

Linder also added the top rated recruiting class in the Mountain

Browns’ Myles Garrett rises to the occasion in a triumphant return home vs. Cowboys

Myles Garrett returned home Sunday. He made his presence known.

The former Martin High School star from just down the road here in Arlington finished with two sacks in Cleveland’s victory. His strip-sack of Dak Prescott in the second quarter led to a touchdown and a lead the Browns would not relinquish.

It was the third consecutive game in which Garrett recorded a strip-sack.

“No. 95 is all over the filed,” Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He is giving us an honest day’s work every time he is out there, playing the run and playing the pass. Really happy for him to be able to do this in his hometown in front of some people who I am sure know him from growing up, friends and family.

“We are going to need him. He is our best player there. We expect a lot from him.”

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Baker Mayfield and Myles Garrett enjoyed their homecoming.

It was easy to forget the surroundings were familiar for Odell Beckham Jr., too.

The Seattle Seahawks (2-0) will play host to the Dallas Cowboys (1-1) at CenturyLink Field, Sunday, at 4:25 p.m. ET. The Seahawks are yet to taste defeat this season, while the Cowboys are coming off an improbable win last week to square their record. Below, we take a look at the early Week 3 betting odds and lines at BetMGM Sportsbook.

The Seahawks held off the New England Patriots in Week 2, winning 30-25 on Sunday Night Football in an oddly quiet CenturyLink Field. Normally, Seattle is known as one of the loudest venues, but of course, due to COVID, fans are not allowed to attend. The Seahawks didn’t need “The 12,” as they bowed their backs on defense for a last-second goal-line stand to hang on for the win and cover.

The Cowboys faced a 15-point deficit before

The fans in Section 448 of AT&T Stadium did not.

So when the Cowboys kicker methodically converted a 46-yard field goal as time expired, completing a dramatic 40-39 comeback win over the Atlanta Falcons, many of those fans attending an NFL game during the COVID-19 pandemic celebrated organically.

Like there was no pandemic at all.

Before an announced crowd of 21,708 people, the Cowboys were one of six NFL franchises that allowed fans to attend their 2020 home opener. The team established and clearly communicated safety guidelines, but compliance varied noticeably by person and was influenced by

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — One gamble after another failed for coach Mike McCarthy in his home debut with the Dallas Cowboys.

A successful onside kick made them all moot.

Greg Zuerlein kicked a 46-yard field goal as time expired, and the Cowboys overcame four fumbles and a 20-point deficit in the first quarter to beat the Atlanta Falcons 40-39 on Sunday.

The Falcons were still up 15 in the fourth quarter before Dak Prescott became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for more than 400 yards and rush for three touchdowns in the same game, the third TD getting Dallas (1-1) within two.

Zuerlein did not use a tee for his slow-rolling onside attempt, a rare tactic. But even more curious was Atlanta’s players surrounding the ball when they could have recovered
