48 Hours (10 p.m., CBS) – The new season starts with a story of a Florida home renovation project that turned into a nightmare. Authorities suspect that an expensive home renovation in Orlando may have led to the murder of Shanti Cooper, at the hands of her husband, David Tronnes. Erin Moriarty reports on the case, in which Cooper was paying the renovation costs for the home that Tronnes paid for. But when the bills soared into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, Cooper was ready to stop paying. That’s when she was killed. Prosecutors say the home renovation project had become Tronnes’ life, that “he obsessed on it … and it led to Shanti’s demise.” Tronnes, on the other hand, said he had nothing to do with his wife’s death, that he arrived home one night to find her floating in the bathtub. Moriarty tells the story through interviews with investigators, those who knew the couple, family members and a local contractor who was trying to rebuild the house from the inside out.
