Insta360 One R gains webcam mode and major image improvements

It’s only been over a week since the Insta360 One R gained compatibility with Matterport for generating 3D spaces, but the camera maker is already back with another announcement: a third major update for its modular action cam. This release claims to offer significant improvements in terms of image quality, with a new “PureShot” AI shooting mode achieving wide dynamic range faster than conventional multi-shot auto exposure bracketing. In general, shots should now be more detailed and vivid as well thanks to the higher bitrate and new color profile, respectively. Audio quality should also see a boost thanks to a new wind reduction technique plus general noise reduction improvement.

Users who go diving with their One R — which is waterproof up to a depth of 5 meters or 16.4 feet under water — will also be pleased to hear that this update comes with “AquaVision” support. This uses AI

Lowe’s Builds New Image At Fashion Week

There’s a lot that’s new and digital about New York Fashion Week. In fact everything is new from the virtual runways to the individual shows getting precedence over the more general events. Even the sponsorships are new, including home improvement retailer Lowe’s.

It might seem to be an unnatural pairing. But Lowe’s is trying to upgrade its image as a home décor brand, and it is using this year’s event to tie in with top tier designers. NYFW kicked off Friday, Sept. 11.

It will participate visually as a backdrop. As designers put their virtual shows together, they will pick shoppable goods from Lowe’s as “edits” within the virtual screen. The first group of designers will be Jason Wu, Rebecca Minkoff and Christian Siriano. After that, Lowe’s will join the designers in community projects that make “high-style design accessible to people and communities

‘Plain, cookie-cutter’ Ankeny seeks to jazz up its image with ‘iconic’ bike trail improvements

With its spectacular 130-foot-tall bridge over the Des Moines River, the High Trestle Trail draws more than 250,000 annual visitors from Iowa and beyond. Now Ankeny, at the other end of the 25-mile biking and pedestrian trail, wants to make its section just as memorable. 

A proposal submitted to the Ankeny City Council calls for a host of improvements to the already popular byway, which runs 4.1 miles from its eastern trailhead through one of Iowa’s fastest-growing cities.
