Fireplace Screens to Keep Embers Where They Belong

There are an estimated 358,500 home fires every year in the USA. While only a fraction of those—4 percent—start in the living room (the kitchen is the biggest culprit, responsible for 50 percent), if you do have an open fire, a screen, guard or curtain that stops hot embers scorching the hearth rug is a good idea.

TN Fireplace & Chimney provides fall safety tips ahead of National Fire Prevention Week

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — TN Fireplace & Chimney, East Tennessee’s leading chimney care company and a proud supporter of Tennessee football, is speaking out on fall fireplace safety ahead of the National Fire Protection Association’s National Fire Prevention Week, which will be held Oct. 4-10.

“Obstructions and damaged equipment are leading factors in many chimney fires,” said Josh Cate, owner of TN Fireplace & Chimney. “Performance issues like smoke, a lack of ventilation or reduced heat output often indicate a serious safety risk. But most chimney fires are preventable, and a regular maintenance schedule will help homeowners keep their fireplace or stove running efficiently and safely.”

Cate and the TN Fireplace & Chimney team recommend the following safety tips for families planning to use fireplaces or stoves this year:

Home is where the hearth is: Spruce up your fireplace | Home & Garden

As a Realtor, I can’t emphasize enough the value a fireplace in a home brings. Families love the idea of cozying up to a fireplace in the winter, hanging stockings during the holiday season, and showcasing their prized family photos atop the mantle.

Angie’s List summarizes it best: “Fireplaces have been the centerpiece of homes for centuries,” and while they come in many different shapes and sizes, the methodology has remained the same since the late 1700s: They offer a place for families to gather.

According to a study done by the National Association of Realtors conducted in 2013, “fireplaces are one of the most sought-after features, with 40% of buyers stating that they would pay extra for a home that had one.”

The National Center for Real Estate Research reports that each fireplace adds about 12% to the home’s selling price. The same study reports an astonishing 59.65% of

A modern fireplace designed to showcase the flames and keep you mesmerized!

There is something about looking into flames that brings us closer to our inner self and keeps us transfixed there. However, with the advent of electric heating devices, we no longer get to sit and relish this experience at our homes. There are many who still keep a traditional fireplace or a gas stove in their houses. But, their purpose is limited to either heating or cooking and the flames are always entrapped in a black industrial frame that does not do justice to their spell-binding liveliness.

Designer Jeong Kim has taken a rather unique approach to this idea by designing a stove that showcases the flames in their captivating brilliance. He has created ‘Contact Surface’, a stove that also works as an ornamental piece to go with your furniture. The design is as much attractive as it is functional. The body features a glass door with various color gradients
