First phase of renovation at Burrell school completed | Local News

The so-called “new normal” experienced by local students and faculty members this fall is taking on an added dimension at the Burrell Elementary School.

That’s because work crews laboring through the coronavirus pandemic have wrapped up the first phase of a long-awaited building renovation and expansion project at the East Foxboro school building.

Improvements included in the recently-completed Phase I includes two building additions, new electrical services and a new heating plant. The additions include new pre-kindergarten classroom space and a new gymnasium that is being used as temporary classrooms and swing space while permanent classrooms are renovated in Phases 2 and 3.

The contract was awarded to CTA Construction Managers, a Waltham-based firm which has completed more than 70 municipal building projects in Massachusetts over the past two decades.

Ardmore Avenue improvements completed | Local

Fort Wayne officials dedicated “a second chance to make a first impression” this morning at the southeast corner of Ardmore Avenue and Airport Expressway.

Mayor Tom Henry cut a ribbon to celebrate completion of project that includes a 25-foot monument-style sign, street widening, decorative street lights, four other directional signs and curb and drainage improvements designed to make visitors driving from the Fort Wayne International Airport to lodgings in Fort Wayne have a good impression of the city.

The project took $4.1 million and 10 years from a concept to completion, including more than a year in construction, officials said.

The centerpiece of the project is the tall and skinny sign reading “Fort Wayne” with three ribbon-like streaks representing the rivers. The sign by Creative Signs, Fort Wayne, is lit at night in white and blue and has a feature that makes it look like the rivers are moving.
