Home closings increase in 2020 along coastal SC counties despite COVID pandemic | Myrtle Beach Business

Myrtle Beach Realtor Travis Muir put a condo up for sale in September at Blue Water Resort on Ocean Boulevard and within an hour, it was sold.

Not an every day occurrence, the realtor for The Hoffman Group admits. But, after all, it’s 2020 and anything can happen.

“The biggest thing is pricing it within realistic market price,” Muir said, adding 2020 has been his best year for sales, pushing nearly triple what he normally does.

“With this one being an investment property, the price point for the rate of return… I think one of the biggest things, too, is the interest rates are lower than they have been in a very long time. That gives people more incentive to go ahead and make that jump. They were thinking of buying in a two- or three-year window, but now with the interest rates so low, people are moving faster.”

Pizza Bar restaurant opens new location in Miami Beach FL

Pizza Bar & Lalani Productions

Guess who’s coming to West Avenue?

Pizza Bar, which opened its first location next to the Loews Miami Beach and Ritz Carlton South Beach in 2009, has opened a new location, right next to Bodega Taqueria y Tequila.

The menu at the new spot, which boasts a rustic but modern vibe, isn’t exactly the same as the menu at the Collins Avenue restaurant, which says it sells the biggest slice on South Beach.

At the new restaurant, it’s not so much about the slices. You can order the 30-inch pizzas with your favorite toppings or try a special pizza like the Proscuitto, with garlic sauce, mozzarella, truffle oil, Proscuitto, arugula, grated Parmesan and basil.

Re-do plan to debut for long-stagnant Palm House hotel in Palm Beach

The new owner of the long-stagnant hotel project plans to present its renovation plans to the Architectural Commission.

| Palm Beach Daily News

Palm Beach residents who have grown weary of looking at the long-vacant-and-unfinished Palm House hotel project on Royal Palm Way could get their first glimpse Wednesday of the new owner’s renovation plans.

The project is on the agenda of Wednesday’s Architectural Commission, when the board is expected to review the plans proposed by LR Palm House LLC. That limited liability company paid about $40 million for the hotel building in May 2019 in a private sale approved by a bankruptcy court.

The company is affiliated with London + Regional Properties, an international real estate investment firm specializing in hospitality projects through its L + R Hotels division.

Work at the hotel halted abruptly nearly six years ago and never re-started. The property eventually ended up

Man promising home repairs scams residents out of thousands, Daytona Beach Shores police say

A Volusia County man is accused of defrauding several people out of thousands of dollars in a home contracting scheme.

Victims say they don’t necessarily expect to get their money back at this point, but they do expect justice.

“He showed us rendering of cabinets and we got all excited,” Stephanie Ruta said.

Ruta and her husband Enrico Ruta say they hired John Venneman two years ago for a kitchen remodel at their beachside condo.

The couple says they gave Venneman, now charged with scheming to defraud, $9,500.

The kitchen was demolished and then months went by with no new cabinets.

“(It was) story after story including wild schemes of cabinets being held up in Barcelona and then his discovery that the company was actually from China,” Stephanie Ruta said.

Stephanie Ruta says Venneman stopped taking their calls and refused to return their money.

City starts $810,000 renovation project at Oneula Beach Park this week

  • COURTESY HONOLULU DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION

Reconstruction of the access road and parking lots at Oneula Beach Park is to begin this week.

A capital improvement project to reconstruct the access road and parking lots at Oneula Beach Park in Ewa Beach is scheduled to begin this week, city officials said, and expected to be done by spring.

The popular park, also known as Hau Bush, currently remains closed due to COVID-19 mitigation efforts, although standalone comfort stations and outdoor showers remain open during regular hours.

The approximately $810,000 project — awarded to Peterson Bros. Construction Inc. – includes new, seal-coated asphalt pavement, concrete sidewalks and curbs, traffic signs and speed bumps, and Americans with Disabilities Act parking stall improvements. Five kiawe trees damaging the roadway will also be removed.

When done, the three renovated parking lots will offer nearly 60 regular and five ADA-compliant stalls.

During the project,
