Judge orders Seminole Commission candidate Pernell Bush to repair damage to home

A judge ordered Seminole County Commission candidate Pernell Bush to move out of the home he shared with his estranged wife and pay for the damages he caused last month when he punched a wall 10 times, apparently in anger over earlier divorce proceedings.

Seminole County Judge Jessica Recksiedler also ordered the Democrat and his estranged wife, Jalyn Isley, to sell their two-story house on Emerald Forest Court near Sanford.

But Bush said Monday that he moved out of the home the day after the Sept. 14 incident and has since been living in Sanford’s Goldsboro community.

His new address is within commission District 5 — the seat he is seeking — which includes Sanford, Heathrow and a portion of Lake Mary. Seminole commissioners are elected countywide, but required

Okla. Mom Described as ‘Beautiful Soul’ Is Allegedly Beaten to Death by Husband with 3 Kids Home

GoFundMe

Three children are left without a mother after watching their father allegedly beat her to death in what Oklahoma officials are calling a case of domestic violence.

Early Wednesday morning, Oklahoma County authorities responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a Spencer home. Upon arrival, authorities found the body of 34-year old Shawntae Lynn Brown inside the house, according to an Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office news release. Also inside the home was Shawntae’s husband, Joshua Christian Brown, 34, and their three children.

In a statement to police, Joshua Brown allegedly admitted to punching and strangling his wife and that he “went too far,” according to a criminal complaint obtained by KOCO.

“It was very obvious that a violent crime had happened in that house,” Mark Myers, a spokesperson for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Department, told KFOR.

The couple’s children, ages 7, 14, and 15, were interviewed, and

September toughest month ever to buy a home in metro Denver

Normally by September, metro Denver’s housing market has cooled off and started buttoning down for the off-season. But nothing is normal about this year.

The region broke September records for the most homes put under contract, most homes sold, shortest time on the market, lowest inventory and highest median home price, according to a report Monday from the Denver Metro Association of Realtors.

“This translates into the toughest market to buy a house in Denver Metro’s history,” Andrew Abrams, chairman of the DMAR Market Trends Committee and a Denver real estate agent said in comments accompanying the monthly Market Trends Report.

Supply was especially tight for single-family homes, with only 3,041 active listings on the market at the end of September. That is 53.4% lower than the inventory available a year ago and 8% lower than in August. September’s previous record low inventory was 5,693.

Condo and townhome supply wasn’t

City of Venice seeks input on proposed improvements to Venezia Park

Earle Kimel

| Sarasota Herald-Tribune

VENICE – The city of Venice is seeking public input on future improvements planned for Venezia Park both through a Zoom meeting and an online survey.

The city is hosting a Zoom meeting at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 to discuss the preliminary design for the park and is also conducting an online survey – with hard copies available at Venice City Hall, 401 W. Venice Ave., Venice – seeking additional input, too.

The park, located at 450 Nassau Street S., is located in the Venezia Park Historic District and is part of the original John Nolen plan.

New playground equipment was installed at the park in August.

All proposed improvements are passive and include ADA accommodations, picnic tables, park benches, a walking trail and landscaping.

All proposed park improvement will be funded through impact fees.

No additional parking is planned, and improvements will be

Best smart home devices of 2020 that aren’t made by Amazon or Google

Google and Amazon dominate the smart home industry. Beyond Amazon’s expanding lineup of Echo smart speakers, the tech giant also owns home security brands Ring and Blinkand Wi-Fi router brand Eero. Smart thermostat maker Ecobee gets funding from Amazon. Google owns Nest and brought the company further under its control this year, rebranding most of its connected devices from “Google Home” to “Google Nest,” like the Google Nest Mini and the Google Nest Hub

Our current list of best smart home devices features 12 products; seven of them are Amazon or Google devices — or devices made by Amazon- or Google-owned (or funded) companies. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing. They’re all solid gadgets and we heartily recommend them. As much as Google and Amazon (the latter especially) deserve credit for bringing some much needed organization to the smart home category via

Safety Tips To Follow During Your Next DIY Home Improvement Project

Around 85% of U.S. homes were built before 1980 and are now in need of improvements. And since you’re probably spending more time than ever at home, it’s likely you’ve taken an even closer look at all of the things that need fixing. You may even have a growing to-do list of all the repairs and upgrades you want to make over the next few months to improve both your property value and your quality of life.

While some jobs need to be handled by a professional, there are countless other projects that can easily be DIY’d. However, you still need to approach every renovation — regardless of its size and scope — with caution. Although over 20,000 workplace slip-and-fall injuries were reported in California during 2015, you don’t have to be on the clock to become hurt while doing a job. And unless you’d like to be one of

Trump Is Putting White House Staff at Risk of COVID-19

“There are people behind the people,” Deesha Dyer, the White House social secretary under Barack Obama, told us. And “they don’t have the privilege of being Marine One-ed to Walter Reed” if they get sick.

Asked to describe the mood inside the White House, one staffer, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he fears for his job, called the fallout from the Trumps’ diagnosis “a huge mess.” He found out about the president’s and first lady’s illness through news reports. “That happens all the time in this administration,” he said. Other White House officials have also recently tested positive, including White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and two of her deputies. For now, the staffer said he’s “just waiting and worried for my friends and their families.”

Of all the employees working on the White House grounds, perhaps

Emery Center renovation underway as The Children’s Theatre plots purchase of historic concert hall

CINCINNATI — Construction on The Emery Center, one of downtown Cincinnati’s most historic buildings, could start in 2021. The Emery Center, which sits on Central Parkway between Walnut and Clay Streets, is currently made up of 59 apartments, Coffee Emporium, office space, and a long-dormant theater.

The apartments will be renovated in phases starting in January, but the theater’s $30 million renovation will take longer by up to the three and a half years, according to The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.

“In real estate, we call it ‘bricks and mortar,’ said the building’s new co-owner, Chris Frutkin. “Well, there’s a lot of bricks and mortar in this building. It just goes on and on and on, [there are] whole rooms we had no idea existed.”

The Emery Theatre will require about $30 million in renovations before it becomes the home of The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati.

18 Gift Card Ideas for Everyone in 2020

best gift card ideas to give 2020

khadija horton

Somewhere along the line, gift certificates earned a reputation—one they absolutely do not deserve, IMHO—for being lame gifts. I mean, think about it! If you had a choice between getting a weird present that you’ll inevitably regift or a money voucher to all your favorite places, you’d choose the money every time, right? Sure, shopping for a gift card takes minimal effort or creativity, but I argue that’s not a bad thing. Shopping for gift certificates takes all of two seconds, and you know the recipient is definitely gonna like it (you know, because they can buy p much anything?!). No time or money wasted.

But before you go off and stock up on a bunch of the same gift cards to give every person in your life, consider giving it a slightly more personal touch. Your dad most definitely shops at different places than your teenage sister,
