Renovation transforms Somerton Park apartment into modern marvel

But if they knew what was inside one of its residences they might change their mind about taking a moment to soak it all in.

A jaw-dropping renovation has transformed the one-bedroom apartment at 5/20 Phillipps Street, which is on the market with a $490,000 to $540,000 price guide.

Tired and dated just months ago, the residence is now more modern, light and open.

Owner Matt Causer, who revitalised the apartment through his business Eco Constructions, said he had a plan from the moment he saw it.

“As soon as I walked in the door I knew what I was going to do,” he said.

“I’m thrilled with the outcome, it’s amazing, I really love it.”

Mr Causer said the renovation, which included knocking out and moving walls, took about four months of intense work to complete.

Spartacus, a 40-pound pet serval, was successfully caught by its owners Saturday, days after it had escaped their New Hampshire home.

The 4-year-old, 40-pound exotic cat named Spartacus was trapped by its owner near his home Saturday morning and is in good health, said Captain Matthew Tarleton in an e-mail.

Its owner, Dean King, said his family had been chasing the cat around Merrimack Friday night and Saturday morning. Eventually, Spartacus probably followed the family home and settled into a trap in the backyard set “with his blanket and some irresistible rats,” King said in a text Saturday morning.

He sent a photo showing the serval nestled beneath the blanket, a patch of its distinct spotted fur peeking out.

Coronavirus and the travel and tourism industry, expert lays out changes

The pandemic has upended the travel industry and different parts of the ecosystem are feeling the pain.

First up, travel credit cards.

Credit card companies that offer travel rewards have had to rethink their offerings as flight and hotel bookings remain depressed due to the pandemic and travel restrictions. Hotels that drive bookings through marketing their co-branded credit cards have had to extend expiration on points and allow customers to use their points towards other services.

“Chase just, you know, normally they allow you to use your points for travel credit. They’re now allowing that for groceries and other expenses so take a look at what you’re spending money on and make sure you’re using a credit card that actually gives you bonus points for what you’re spending on, whether that’s groceries or dining,” Brian Kelly, founder and CEO of The Points Guy, a travel and credit-card-rewards website, told CNBC’s

CPCL targets improvements to margins

Measures to boost realisation include a naphtha splitter, low sulphur fuel oil foray

State-owned refiner Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL) , which posted a loss of ₹2,078 crore in FY20, has planned several initiatives for the current fiscal to improve its operational performance, said a top official.

CPCL posted a pre-tax profit of ₹430 crore in the first quarter following improvement in crude prices though product margins continued to remain below the economic level and demand was only 70-75% of the normal. “We expect the demand to significantly improve by Q3 of FY21,” Chairman S.M. Vaidya told shareholders at the annual general meeting.

“CPCL has initiated many measures to improve profitability and reduce operating costs and with good physical performance combined with these new measures, we are confident of better financial performance in the current fiscal,” he said.

As part of measures to improve margin realisation, a naphtha splitter was

Tobias Lear House renovation would make George Washington feel at home again – News – seacoastonline.com

PORTSMOUTH — A master carpenter, wallpaper historian, “paint detective” and wall-covering expert form a historic preservation dream team assembled to restore the 1730s Tobias Lear House, before it opens as an inn next year.

Stephen Foster bought the Portsmouth home, which is on the National Historic Register, a year ago. It was suffering from deferred maintenance in the historic South End with its chipping exterior paint visible from every view.

The sale came with a preservation easement that requires maintaining the historic integrity of everything there now, into perpetuity. That easement was a deterrent to most buyers, but Foster has done this before.

He was featured in the Washington Post in 2014 for applying the same restorative vision, and resources, to a rundown 1763 Virginia plantation property called Wilton House, now available for short-term rentals.

A Washington, D.C. resident, Foster was sent a Portsmouth Herald article about the poor condition

That car wash, at 4365 Mayfield Road, is now hopping as, after its grand opening Thursday (Sept. 10), it is operating at full capacity because of its opening promotion.

“We’d like everyone to try us and now’s a good time,” said Express Wash Concepts CEO John Roush. “We’re offering a free car wash to everyone who comes in — our best, $18 CLEanest car wash.” The offer extends through Sept. 20 and, Roush said, all that is asked is that customers consider a donation to Cleveland nonprofit The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning.

Roush, through the three brands that make up Express Wash Concepts, seeks to
